“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”- Aristotle
What Aristotle has said in 300 BC, about 2300 years ago is evident in our society these days. Our education system primarily focuses on educating the mind. There is no consideration for educating the heart.
Look around you and try to observe the consequences. You will see highly intelligent, hardworking, and efficient people who deep inside are hollow.
This is mainly because we have always been taught to analyze and weigh different situations in terms of financial and social status. Not even once in my childhood have I been told the importance of understanding and respecting oneself. Nobody talks about mental health or a positive change. We tend to judge our success and well being based on other people’s perceptions. In this race of progress and advancement, we have lost ourselves.
There is a research paper by Marvin Minsky “Will robots inherit the earth? Yes, they will but they will be our children”. Though talked about with a different perspective, I agree with the conclusion. The way human beings are evolving, we are progressing towards becoming a robot.
But it’s not late
It is high time that we connect with our inner self. Understand ourselves, our requirements, concerns, and judge ourselves based on this understanding rather than other people’s perceptions. Understanding the importance of love, family, society, respect, and service is the need of the hour. In these understandings, lie the answers to all our problems.
Look deep within you. Do you feel complete? Is your heart healthy and satisfied?
If not, why?
Let me know your views on this.
As is so often the case, we need to find a balance between personal fulfillment and productivity. We should be able to achieve both, and I agree with you, that it is part of a well-rounded education. ❤ All the best! Cheryl

Exactly Cheryl, but sadly our education system does not focus on it. It promotes development only on one front and completely compromises on the other. Take care!
