“The two important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why”– Mark Twain
In a world full of variations, where every personality is different from one another, we all are taught under the same education system with a little variation. Even where a little variation is available, certain subjects are given more preference than others and certain profession holds a superior position in the society, purely based on perception. Under such circumstances, when a person makes a career choice, he gives more preference to income, social status, and stability over his passion and talent. Consequently, many people settle down for the already established and stable fields, where the path is well defined and their growth becomes a function of time and hard work.
This can be witnessed every year when thousands of students apply for engineering. More than 85% of the students with science stream, apply for engineering after completing their 12 class, not all of them are truly interested in it. In fact, most of them get into this to ensure a stable job in the future. They end up leading a routine 9-5 job life.
Some people explore themselves and their talents. They choose a field that suits their passion and talent, however, less explored it may be. They end up living an adventurous life. They walk on roads which are less taken and in some cases, create a new road. Their passion drives them towards a bright future as they view every problem as a challenge and not a restriction. We all are born with different qualities and have a special role to play. In an unpredictable life, nothing assures stability. Settling for stability and not exploring your uniqueness, is a waste of who you are. It will neither fetch your satisfaction nor your full potential. You want things only when you are capable of getting it. Trust yourself and listen to your heart.
